Computer Technology – Cyber Security (A.A.S.)

Today, cyber security is critical in almost every industry. As reliance on digital platforms grows, the demand for experts is higher than ever. Companies seek professionals skilled in network security, malware detection, encryption techniques, and systems administration to protect sensitive information from cyber threats.

The Computer Technology Cyber Security associate degree provides students with the skills to not only manage networks but also to fortify them against potential threats. Additionally, students will gain expertise in conducting penetration tests to ensure the networks remain impervious to attacks.

Upon graduation, students will possess comprehensive knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, networking, databases, and programming, as well as defensive and offensive security measures. Aspects of the Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), CompTIA Linux+, Net+, Security+ and A+, Wireshark Certified Network Analyst, and the EC-Council Certified Ethical Hacker certifications will be covered.

  • Showcasing expertise in hardware, programming, operating systems, networking, data communication, and database technology.
  • Show techniques to prevent unauthorized attacks on computer networks and minimize damage caused by intruders.
  • Assess and implement the necessary information security measures for all information systems, establishing an assurance framework that integrates security processes and controls within information system technologies.
  • Understand professional, ethical, legal, security, and social issues and responsibilities.
  • Apply strong communication and critical thinking skills including reading, writing, organizing, evaluating, problem-solving, and presentation skills in the area of cyber security.
