It is awarded to students who demonstrate financial need through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Federal Pell Grants are awarded only to students who are enrolled in undergraduate programs and who have not previously received a bachelor’s or a professional degree.
The amount a student receives will depend on several factors including:
- Financial Need
- Enrollment status
- Filing the FAFSA
Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant
FSEOG (Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant) is a federal grant awarded to undergraduate students with exceptional financial need. The FSEOG is a campus-based, gift aid award and does not need to be repaid. Federal Pell Grant recipients with the highest need eligibility receive priority consideration for an FSEOG award. Award amounts range from $100 to $400. Funding is limited for the FSEOG award and therefore will be awarded on a first come first served basis to those that qualify.
PA State Grant
The State Grant program provides grants to eligible Pennsylvania residents who are in need of financial assistance to attend a PHEAA-approved post-secondary school as undergraduate students.
Although students receive direct notification from PHEAA regarding their conditional eligibility for a state grant, the Financial Aid Office is required to review each conditionally eligible student in accordance with PHEAA guidelines regarding eligible programs (certificate and diploma programs are not state grant eligible), enrollment, and academic progress (credits completed and remedial classes). Once the Financial Aid Office has determined a student has met all eligibility requirements for the PA State Grant; the student will be notified through an award notification email and their myPEAK.
