The Science of Food
Take a bite out of science during this event that will actually encourage you to play with your food!
Did you know that honey will never go bad and that fruit snacks (gummy bears) and cars are coated in the same type of wax? Learn these and other fun food facts during this event that will introduce you to the science of food. Through many rich STEM activities, you will explore the chemical reactions of food in culinary concoctions and fermentation experiments, discover the biology of taste buds, and extract DNA in foods. We’ll also explore the technological side of foods by learning how to grow your own food, make paper from fruits, and tap into the power of potatoes! Each station will include hands-on activities for participants and may include takeaways, perfect for the budding chef, scientist, or chemist or anyone who likes to eat!
This event is free and open to all ages.
